The Lagos Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), on May 25, 2026, embarked on a peaceful protest against rising insecurity, kidnapping, and banditry attacks across the country.
The protest led by the chairman, Pastor Yemi Davids followed a three-day fasting and prayer programme organised for the nation.
According to Pastor Davids, the demonstration was a necessary step to publicly express the PFN’s concern, solidarity, and empathy for victims of violence and Nigerians mourning at this time.
He explained that the action was inspired by the biblical example of Esther who, at a time of socio-political challenge in Israel, initiated a similar exercise, adding that prayer must be accompanied with action.

“When Esther prayed and fasted, they didn’t just stay, they went to speak to the king,” he said.
Pastor Davids emphasised that the PFN peaceful protest is not for political party and has no political undertone, and that it is not for political campaign.
“This is not a political party, no chanting of anybody’s names or any party. We are doing this for first The Body of Christ and for Nigeria,” he said.
In an address during the protest, the PFN National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, lamented what he described as the nation’s declining value for human life and called on the government to fulfil its constitutional and moral duties.

He called on Nigeria government to awake to her Constitutional and moral duties in tackling the insecurities through banditry, murderous act, seige under the disguise of religion.

Every Nigerian should cry out against it to God for divine intervention and to our government to take action.
“While these satanic acts were going on our political elite continue with business as usual, as though nothing was happening. These are unspeakable and despicable act of terror..
“We are burdened for the loss of our sense of humanity, we are burdened for the unchecked rampaging of bandits, murderous herdsmen killing Nigerian farmers on their farms, Boko Haram insurgence using the noble religion of Islam to perpetrate heinous violence against peaceful Nigerians unchecked across national landscape”, he declared
The PFN also urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention while demanding urgent government action.
Protesters displayed several placards bearing messages including: “Nigeria Must Be Safe”; “United Against Violence”; “Save Nigeria from Terror”, “Protect the Innocent”; “Peace and Unity Now”; “Stop the Persecution of Christians,” No to Islamisation Agenda”; “Justice for the Oppressed”; “End Bloodshed in Nigeria,” No to Insecurity”, “Every Life Matters”, and “Let Nigerians Live.”
The fellowship also reiterated its call for the Federal Government to fulfil its constitutional and moral duty of protecting Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion so that the country can truly be a nation where no one is oppressed.
