Man Pours Flammable Substance On 60-Year Old Father, and Lights Fire

In an another show of sheer callousness, a man just poured flammable substance on his 60 year old father, and then set it alight.

This left the unsuspecting father engulfed with flames, and thereafter, fresh fire burns and wounds on his forehead, arms, and toes

He is 27-year-old man, Kabiru Nuhu and police preliminary report suggest that he may have thought through the attack overnight, as he executed it around 6:30 am, in Magama Quarters of Kazaure town, in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Command, Shi’isu Adam, quoting preliminary investigation said the suspect, Kabiru Nuhu, poured a flammable substance suspected to be petrol, on his father’s body and set him ablaze.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but sadly gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

Stating that the attack took place on April 1, 2026,  he added:

“The victim was engulfed by fire, suspiciously ignited by an unknown person, and we received a report from Lokon Malamai, which led to the prompt response of our team.

“The suspect was arrested with fresh fire burns and wounds on his forehead, arms, and toes.

“The suspect is facing charges of patricide, a serious offence under Nigerian law.”

The suspect is currently in custody and would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

According to the police spokesman, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, Haruna Yahaya, has reacted to the incident.

Condemning it, he added that the circumstances were being investigated.

We call on residents to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes and to report any signs of domestic violence or conflict to the nearest police station,” Yahaya said.

On his own, the PPRO also urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as investigations continue, while the command has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.

“We’re appealing to anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation,” Adam stated.
