Court Sentences Man 24 Years Over Incest With Biological Daughters

A randy father has bagged 24 years in jail after over incest with his two biological daughters, aged 13 and 16

The sentencing yesterday turned out the climax of protracted legal tussle, featuring one Okon Jimmy Ama, a commercial driver and mechanic from Ikot Ekop village, in Mkpat Enin local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

51 year old Ama was sentenced to a combined 24-year imprisonment for incest, raping and assaulting the two biological daughters.

The 51-year-old was convicted and sentenced by the State High Court, Uyo, presided over by Hon. Justice Winifred Effiong.

The court heard that in 2015, Ama repeatedly molested his daughters, aged 13 and 16 by having carnal knowledge of them severally.

He was also alleged to have used a car fan belt to beat one of his daughters and later disposed of the evidence in a pit toilet.

Justice Effiong, therefore, convicted Ama on all counts and sentenced him as follows:

• 7 years in prison on counts 1 and 2 – incest by male,
• 3 years for assault occasioning bodily harm and
• 14 years for rape

The sentences are to run concurrently the court ruled.
