Tinubu, Shettima To Spend N6.1bn On Foreign Travels In 2026

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will spend a combined N6.1 billion on foreign travels in 2026.

This is contained in the 2026 Appropriation Bill currently before the National Assembly indicates.

The Presidency is projected to spend N6.14 billion on foreign travels, while the Office of the Vice President will spend N1.31 billion within the same period.

The 2026 budget propositions is requesting for N8.38 billion for State House Operations (President) and N2.64 billion for State House Operations (Vice President) in the 2026 budget.

An item: “Solarisation of the Villa with Solar Mini-Grid,” alone, has N7 billion earmarked for it.

The Eagle reports the Budget Office as describing the solarisation project as a landmark move aimed at transforming Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and driving economic development.

The Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Mr. Tanimu Yakubu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with key government agencies.

The MOU was signed in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), and the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp).
