Federal University Identifies Graduates Who Risk Having Their Certificates Withdrawn

A Nigerian federal university has identified a category of its graduates who risk having their certificates withdrawn.

Professor Adenike Oladiji, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA)  gave the caution today at the 36th Convocation and Award of First Degrees of the university.

“As it is often said, no man can climb out beyond the limits of his character. Your character would determine how far you would go in life”, she observed, adding consequently that those who lack character have not fulfilled all the prerequisites to parade the university’s certificates.

“Bear in mind also, the university reserves the right to withdraw your certificate if you misrepresent her anywhere.

“Our earnest expectation is that you will become alumni to be proud of in no distant future.

“I therefore admonish you to continue to uphold the values that FUTA holds dear. By all means, remain men and women of noble character.

“Skills can take you to the top, but you require character to remain there,” she said.

For the Pro-Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Nora Daduut however, commendation should go to President Bola Tinubu for initiating the Renewed Hope agenda.

She said that her commendation is based on the fact that the initiative has recorded some achievements, adding no fewer than 3,000 students of the institution have benefitted from the student loan scheme of the administration.

The pro-chancellor said that in spite of paucity of funds, FUTA had progressed in the 2024/2025 academic session.

Located in Akure, Ondo State, the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) was  established in 1981 by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
