Students Beat Teacher To De^th For Telling Them To Stop Gambling

Students of secondary school have beaten their teacher to de^th, his offence being that he advised them to stop gambling.

The unfortunate incident involved students of the Soun High School, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

They did not take kindly to the advice of a teacher Mr Fatai Adegoke, to stop gambling but instead, descended on him and brutally assaulted him.

Eye witnesses confirmed the assault happened during school hours and the hapless teacher had confronted the group of students gambling in a classroom.

They succeeded in beating him to a pulp breaking his limbs, before the man was rushed to a nearby hospital.

He later died in the hospital warranting an outrage in the school and the neigbourhood.

The students are on the run, but the outrage is spreading, given the circumstance of the attack that resulted in the teacher’s death.

He met it while trying to tell them to stop gambling.

In a statement , a group of concerned teachers expressed concern over the development stating:

“With deep pain and righteous indignation, we mourn the tragic and avoidable death of Mr. Fatai Adegoke, a dedicated teacher who was brutally attacked by his own students while trying to stop them from gambling during school hours”.

Calling on the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), and security agencies to bring the culprits to brought, the group said it was holding the parents of the concerned students responsible for the assault and its aftermath
