Women Must Find The Courage To Be Bold, Audacious; Not Zip Up -Natasha Uduaghan

Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has admonished that women must find the courage to be bold, courageous and audacious and not zip up.

The senator who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly resumed sitting on September 23, after serving her six months suspension.

She has decried the socio-cultural conditions surrounding women which she said make them to endure shame and silence but rather admonishes them otherwise.

Women must find the courage to be bold, audacious and not zip up in the face of contradictory circumstances, she stated.

She gave the admonitions yesterday, at “An Evening with Senator Natasha” a mentorship programme to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child:

“It’s important to identify the girl that I am. Many of us, especially girls, grow up without ever taking the time to understand or connect with who we truly are”,  she said.

“Society defines and shapes us from childhood, and we’re rarely given the chance to think for ourselves. Before you figure out your career, your drive, or the change you want to make, you must first know who you are”, she added.

“Women have been raised to take the shame, wear the blame, and zip their mouths shut.

“But that ends with us. We must find the courage to be bold, audacious, and fearless, to break barriers and climb higher mountains.”

The theme of the interactive programme was “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis”, with the senator availing the participants of her perspective to maintaining feminine dignity despite contradictions.

Akpoti-Uduaghan told the young women from across Nigeria to refuse to be intimidated, even as she declared her mission was not just politic-centred

The Eagle reports that Natasha Uduaghan, in a recent Istagram post had overviewed her recent travails in the hands of the Senate leadership, and eventual return, describing it as a long walk to justice:

“Thus, I deeply appreciate the good people of Kogi Central, Kogi state and Nigeria at large for their voices, prayers and support.

“This isn’t my victory alone, it’s ours to behold and celebrate.

The NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS (N.L.C), Nigerian Bar Association, Womanifesto, Socio-Economic Rights & Accountability Project – SERAP ,  numerous political parties amongst many others stood firm in demanding accountability for justice…THANK YOU!!!”.
