Chidinma Breaks Silence At Last: How I Found Usifo Ataga’s Body

Chidinma Ojukwu , the lady at the centre of the murder allegation of Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga, has broken her silence at last.

She has given account how she discovered the lifeless body of Ataga, in the short-service apartment where they both lodged in the Lekki area of Lagos, on June 15, 2021

Chidinma spoke, while Testifying before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square .

Led in evidence by her counsel, Mr. Onwuka Egwu, Chidinma said she met Ataga through a mutual friend, Fiyin, who was dating Ataga’s friend, James.

She said the relationship with Ataga, began in November 2020, describing him as kind and supportive, and that the late CEO was helping her financially, including paying her school fees and helping in financing her cosmetics business.

According to her, on June 13, 2021, Ataga informed her of his upcoming birthday and invited her to spend time with him before traveling to Abuja for a family gathering.

“Due to ongoing renovations at his VGC residence, he suggested booking a hotel or short-let apartment in Lekki, where he had scheduled meetings,” she said.

Chidinma, a 300 level student of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) stated that she found a short-let apartment at 19 Adewale Street, off Ologolo Road, Lekki, which Ataga approved.

She told the court that when she returned to the hotel after going to buy food, that she knocked repeatedly on the door, but that when she could not get a reply, that she pushed the door open.

She told the court that she found Ataga lying motionless on the floor in a pool of blood.

She said she dropped what was on her hands and ran to the late CEO and found that he had no pulse and that his eyes were shut.

“I saw blood stains, pushed the door open, and saw Michael on the floor, covered in blood. I checked for a pulse — there was none.”

She added in her testimony that it was in panic that she cleaned blood stains on herself before changing her clothes.

The lady said she also packed her belongings, a brown envelope containing some vital documents including bank statements, ID cards belonging to Usifo Ataga, and some jewelry before leaving the apartment.

The court adjourned the case for April 28, 2025.
