Disturbing News: Okuama President-General Dies In Military Detention

The President-General of Okuama Community of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Pa James Oghoroko, has reportedly died in military detention.

His death is allegedly from torture and alleged inhumane treatment in military detention, even as the lead Counsel, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje (SAN) has described the incident as disturbing news

News broke last March 14 of the killing of some 17 soldiers who had gone on a peace-keeping mission at Okuama, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Though there were controversies, as to who were responsible,  many residents of the area were arrested and detained.

Oghoroko was one of the leaders arrested by the Nigerian military and had been held since August 2024.

Others are Arthur Ekpekpo, Chief Belvis Adogbo, Dennis Okugbaye, Pa Anthony Ahwemuria and Mrs Rita Akata and the news of his death is sending jitters down the spines of many people in the community

In the wake of an emergency meeting convoked there by the elders, it was revealed that another community leader in the military detention is in a dire situation.
