Today is Independence Day, and the Nigeria Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command says it has deployed Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) as part of its readiness against unforeseen actions.
It said this against the backdrop of planned nationwide protests by the #Endbadgovernance groups.
Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7, AIG Benneth Igweh, who stated this in a release, added that anti-riot equipment, visibility policing had also been deployed to enable residents stay secure.
“This proactive deployment is aimed to ensure that residents of the FCT enjoy a hitch-free Independence Day celebration”, the Command stated in a statement by SP Josephine Adeh.
It added: “The deployment will include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) personnel, anti-riot equipment, visibility policing, among others.

“Traffic diversions will be implemented in areas expected to experience large crowds, including Central Area and Eagle Square.
