There is scanty information for now over the fainting on stage of Deputy President Paul Mashatile while addressing a crowd.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon, and the President’s Deputy, Mashatile 62, had to be rushed to hospital, local media reported.

The report referenced State broadcaster, SABC News adding that Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, said Mashatile is fine after the collapse.

The report said the president’s deputy, Mashatile had gone to the event chairperson of the Presidential Task Team and was speaking about Traditional and Khoisan leaders.

.The event was N’wamitwa Day in Tzaneen in Limpopo, and officials say there is no need for alarm, even as the report cited exhaustion as the reason for the collapse..

Another medium said Mashatile’s spokesperson Keith Khoza had reported that the deputy president had left Limpopo for Gauteng.

“While delivering his keynote address, the deputy president felt lightheaded from the heat and was attended to by his medical team.”

Mashatile was speaking at the N’wamitwa Day Celebrations held at Valoyi Cultural Village, Greater Tzaneen in Limpopo.

He was given prompt medical attention immediately he got to the hospital.

The fainting had been linked to high temperatures in the region said to have reached 36 degrees on Saturday,
