Ubah, who was the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil, was said to have died in a hotel in London, the United Kingdom, on Saturday.

The death of the senator is said to have been confirmed by Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu,

He said, “It’s confirmed, but I am sending an official statement soon.”

Ubah, who was re-elected into the 10th Senate under the Young Peoples Party, had last year defected to the All Progressive Congress.

In September 2022, Ubah escaped assassination when he was attacked by gunmen on his way to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.

His convoy was shot at, and at least five persons, including two policemen, were killed.

He survived as the vehicle he was riding in was bulletproof.

The Eagle reports that the late the first son of seven children of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alphonsus Ubah who hailed from Otolo, the industrial town of Nnewi in Anambra State.

A notable entrepreneur, he learnt a trade early in life for reason of financial difficulty in furthering his education, and this turned out a blessing in disguise given that he was to make it big in the world of business.

He was a dealer in motor spare parts generally, but tyres specifically, and explored the export trade with it, trading in such West Coast countries as Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, as well as Liberia,

From there, his business went to the United Kingdom and Belgium amongst others.

Aside being an oil baron, being the founder of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Uba was also a media publisher, being the owner of The Authority Newspaper.

Late Ifeanyi Uba was a frontliner in the Anambra gubernatorial election of 2014 flying the flag of the Labour Party. His efforts paid off differently 1n 2019 when he won the Anambra South Senatorial elections.
