Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has been tipped by Xavi to reach the pinnacle of the game. The player has been praised for both his football skills and his temperament and maturity.

Xavi has expressed nothing but praise for Yamal, who at just 16 years old is already considered to be among Barcelona’s best and most significant players. Yamal possesses all the necessary qualities to become a player who will define an age.

Xavi said at a recent press conference: “I see him very calm. He is very measured in the sense that he is digesting everything that is happening to him very well, despite his young age. He is a mature person, he is responsible, he is aware of the situation he is experiencing. He’s very humble and he’s showing us that he’s a differential player. He is a player that can mark an era in football, especially at Barcelona. Hopefully we can always enjoy him at this level. He’s a teenage boy who’s growing up. On a mental level, he is a cheerful, joking boy. He’s enjoying himself. He’s happy.”

Yamal has played in all but one of Barcelona’s 30 La Liga games this season, despite his advanced age. His 13 goal involvements are just slightly fewer than those of much more seasoned and established players like Joao Felix, Ferran Torres (both 15), and Raphinha (16), with six goals and seven assists in all competitions. This season, the only players with more goals scored are Felix, Torres, and Robert Lewandowski.

Yamal’s parents gave him the opportunity to represent Morocco or Equatorial Guinea before he turned professional and made six senior games for La Roja.
