Following the announcement on Friday—which was the German manager’s idea—some members of Liverpool ‘s staff were reportedly in tears over Jurgen Klopp’s unexpected departure.

The Atheltic claims that the management made the decision to record a video and make his exit known to the public. In order to prevent any leaks to the media, he wanted to make sure that employees, players, and supporters heard about it straight from him. The manager made it a priority to let those close to him and their families know what his plans were going forward so they could make appropriate plans.

Alongside Klopp, assistants Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as first-team development coach Vitor Matos, will also be leaving Liverpool. The report claimed that the response from both staff and players was one of complete shock, with only a select few being aware of the decision beforehand. The unexpected nature of the announcement led to emotional scenes among members of the staff and some even could not hold back their tears.

Fans were devastated to learn that Klopp will be departing the team in the summer, much like the players and staff. Even the legendary Jammie Carragher of Liverpool believed the video to be a cruel joke or a hoax.

On Sunday, January 28, Klopp will lead his team as they play Norwich City in the FA Cup. The 56-year-old will want to end his career on a positive note because Liverpool is still in four tournaments and, if they keep up their present play, they have a chance to win the quadruple in May.
