Liverpool Boss Klopp Issues Injury Update on Alisson And Mac Allister

Jurgen Klopp has expressed uncertainty regarding Alisson’s and Alexis Mac Allister’s availability for Liverpool’s Premier League matchup against Crystal Palace.

Alisson, a Brazilian goalkeeper, has missed the last three games for the Reds due to a hamstring injury. On November 25, during the latter moments of a 1-1 tie with Manchester City, the South American goalie took that knock. In contrast, Mac Allister was hit hard twice in the past game, once to his ankle and once to the face during a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Asked for updates on his No.1 keeper and World Cup-winning Argentine midfielder, Klopp told reporters: “Alisson looks good. I don’t know if good enough for tomorrow. Macca doesn’t look good. We have to see day by day. We have to see how he shows up. I don’t expect him to be ready for tomorrow.”

Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson, and Diogo Jota are among the other players now sidelined for Liverpool, which also lost Joel Matip to an ACL injury that ended his season. Klopp added on the constant battle that Premier League bosses face when it comes to dealing with fitness issues: “Most teams are only two injuries away from a real problem.”

This season, the Reds have managed to cope with forced absences; after 15 Premier League games, Klopp’s team has only lost once. They are currently in second place in the rankings, two points behind Arsenal, thanks to a strong 34-point haul. They have a chance to take the top spot, if only momentarily, if they defeat Palace on Saturday noon.
