Is CR7 vs Messi Off?! Inter Miami Issue Update

A statement has been released by Inter Miami in response to rumours that Lionel Messi’s team will play a special match in February against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
Miami have played down suggestions Messi and Ronaldo could meet again in a clash between Inter Miami and Al-Nassr in 2024. The game was expected to take place in February as part of the Riyadh Season Cup, a three-team tournament which would also involve Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.

Despite being at the end of their incredible careers, Messi and Ronaldo are still two of the biggest names in the game. The likelihood of the two club veterans reigniting their rivalry has been cast into doubt by Miami’s remark, but any match involving them will always draw a lot of interest. Before the start of the new Major League Soccer season in January, Messi’s Miami team is scheduled to begin training and play a few preseason games. As part of Miami’s preseason preparations, the World Cup winner may play a friendly against his boyhood club, Newell’s Old Boys.
The statement read, “Earlier today, an announcement was issued stating that Inter Miami CF is scheduled to play in the Riyadh Season Cup. This is inaccurate. The release included statements attributed to team owner Jorge Mas. Mas has made no comments, publicly or privately, in relation to the preseason tour.
“Since day one, Inter Miami CF has set out to be a global brand. To this end, we have been in conversations to determine our 2024 preseason schedule. We look forward to showcasing our players on Inter Miami CF’s first international tour which will be announced in the coming weeks.”
Messi will take a short break after his current international duty with Argentina and rejoin Miami’s training. Meanwhile, on Friday, Ronaldo will return to action for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League against Al Akhdoud.
