Huge Blow For Man City As Guardiola Issues Worrying John Stones Injury Update 

The announcement by manager Pep Guardiola that John Stones “will be out for a while” has struck a severe blow to Manchester City.

In City’s 3-0 victory over Young Boys, Stones was replaced at halftime, although there was much debate over the decision. Since then, Guardiola has acknowledged the England international’s injury and the possibility of a lengthy layoff.

Stones has been limited to just four Premier League appearances this season due to a hip injury, and the appearance against Young Boys was his first in the Champions League in 2023/24. While he was withdrawn at half-time, City won thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland and an excellent Phil Foden goal.

Guardiola said after the game, as per Sam Lee of The Athletic: “John felt it again. I feel so sorry for him. It’s a big loss for us. John is so important for what he does. But recover and the season is long; he will be back stronger. I think he will be out for a while.”

Playing Chelsea this weekend and then consecutive matches against Liverpool, RB Leipzig, and Tottenham puts City in a challenging schedule. Even with their depth all around, John Stones might end up being a huge loss for these kinds of games.
