The All Progressives Congress (APC) Strategic Monitoring Team (SMT) says that there was no tension in Plateau over judgments delivered recently by the Court of Appeal which cost some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) their seats.
Coordinator of the APC-SMT Mr Golepji Wambutda while reacting to the rumour mongers said any tension existed only in the imagination of the party not favoured in the appeal court judgement – the PDP.
“The drums of war, tension and restiveness claimed to exist on the Plateau is a creation of the PDP which it is likely to instigate by ensuring violence follows the outcome of appeals, should it not go its way.
“This we believe will not happen as a responsible leadership and trustee of the people whom it currently is, may only discredit itself. But can we measure the desperation and how far it can cause them to go?
“We state clearly that there is no threat to peace. The people have returned to their daily lives of striving to survive. Businesses are operating normally without anxiety.

Stating that his party would not sit idly by while the rumour mongers misled the people, he added: “We wish to reiterate to all peace-loving citizens of Plateau at home and in the diaspora that there is no tension”.
The Eagle also reports that the People’s Democratic Party, had, on Wednesday, demanded a disbandment of the panel of justices who sat on the Court of Appeal’s judgment on the Plateau State senatorial poll, urging a review of its judgment.
The party made the demand through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who addressed the press.

He also condemned what he decried as the frightening pattern the Plateau Appeal Court panel allegedly gave conflicting judgments.
“The people of Plateau State are unsettled by allegations in the public domain that the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel has been hugely compromised and induced by the failed All Progressives Congress in Plateau State to undermine the will of the people by snatching elections clearly won by the PDP and awarding same to the APC as now evidenced in its inexplicable varying judgments on same”, he alleged.
it appears all is not yet heard about the appeal court judgement.
