Raphael Varane has been ruled out of Man United clash against Brentford with a ‘minor issue’ – deepening the club’s defensive injury crisis.

Due to the Frenchman’s injury, United is now down to five defenders, forcing Erik ten Hag to start Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans against Thomas Frank’s team.

Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and all three of United’s left-backs—Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and loanee Sergio Reguilon—were already absent. With Diogo Dalot moving to the left side of defence and Victor Lindelof filling in on the right, Ten Hag was forced to use Sofyan Amrabat at left-back due to the situation. However, the Moroccan international is expected to return to midfield against Brentford.

Man United will be anxious to defeat Brentford and end the misery at Old Trafford after having their worst season to date.
