How My Administration Intends To Tackle Agbero System In Lagos – Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor in Lagos State, has promised that, if elected on March 18, his administration will terminate the state’s “Agbero” system of touts and thugs.

He made the promise while speaking at the Youth O’clock breakfast event held by the “Obidient Movement” in Ikeja GRA, Lagos. He also vowed that the Labour Party would oppose any intimidation or harassment of voters.

He emphasized that the quest to liberate Lagos from the restraints keeping the state down included the event.

According to Rhodes-Vivour, the people of Lagos desire effective government regardless of the language a leader speaks or the tribe he belongs to, in response to the assertions that he is not a Yoruba guy and that he does not understand Yoruba.

He noted that he is a proper cosmopolitan Lagosian having roots with the Yoruba people and having been trained in the best institutions in the world.

Lagos has traditionally been a peaceful place, according to the LP candidate, but politicians stir up ethnic tension in order to split the state’s citizens.

He also promised to provide employability skills to young people to tackle the problem of youth unemployment in the state, emphasizing that contrary to the notion that unemployed youths are lazy, many of them actually want jobs to earn a decent living.

“They want jobs, so we are going to ensure that we give them employability skills and domicile these skills at the local governments,” he said.

He pledged that the infrastructure will function properly after he was elected governor, including the health care system, education system, transportation system, and clean pipe-borne water system.

He said that, by God’s blessing, the Obidient project will create thousands of good men who would continue to serve the nation with sincerity of purpose.

He added that any sort of intimidation or harassment will be opposed and that voter security and safety were of utmost importance in the election on March 18.
