EFCC Arrests Suspect Behind N32m Vote-Buying largesse

Speed Up Prosecution Of Vote Buyers

A suspect allegedly behind a N32.4m vote-buying deal has been arrested by the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

The agency has also confiscated the said sum, an official tweet has indicated.

This is coming on the heels of the discovery of about Four hundred and ninety eight thousand dollars in the possession of  a member of the House of Representatives and owner of two media outlets – Atlantic Television Network and Wish FM 99.5 respectively Dr Chinyere Igwe, has seen tongues wagging.

The latest discovery of N32.4 million by the EFCC, was made by men of Lagos Zonal Command.

“The massive operation by the EFCC to deter vote trading and other financial malfeasance ahead of tomorrow’s presidential and national assembly elections may have begun paying dividends.

“The interception of the sum of N32, 400,000 (Thirty-two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) allegedly suspected to be used for vote buying in Lagos”.

Chairman of the EFCC Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa who has reacted to the alleged vote-buying incident, has used the opportunity to reiterate his call on his men to sustain their efforts at this time of election, and to also refuse to be financial compromised

Imploring the members of the public for support, he urged anyone with useful information to the commission to utilise the opportunity of hot lines which had been provided for the purpose.

He said such numbers had been made available on the commission’s platforms, adding that “Members of the public are encouraged to report anyone trying to buy or sell votes by making use of the EFCC financial crimes reporting App, Eagle Eye, which is available for download on the Google Play or Apple store:, he said.
