The Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State claimed on Wednesday that Mr. Doyin Okupe’s resignation as the campaign director-general for the Labour Party’s Mr. Peter Obi for president in 2023 had positively portrayed Nigeria to the rest of the world.

Recall that on Tuesday, Okupe resigned from his position.

After being found guilty of breaking the Money Laundering Act by an Abuja-based Federal High Court, Okupe resigned.

In his letter of resignation, Okupe stated that it was preferable to avoid detracting from Obi‘s campaign and the party’s efforts on account of his personal interests.

Mrs. Olubunmi Odesanya, the LP Publicity Secretary for Lagos State, responded to Okupe’s choice by telling NAN that Okupe had set a higher standard for others to follow.

Odesanya argued that Okupe’s choice to have his name cleared up by the nation’s legal system was still honorable.
