Minister Frowns At US Comparism –An Indian minister has frowned at a US official’s comparism of Indian prime minister, Narendi Modi with the prime minister of Saudi Arabia,  Mohammed bin Salman.

Union Minister V Muraleedharan was referring to remarks of the spokesperson of the US Department of State, while defending the immunity extended to Saudi Arabia Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman by the American government.

Muraleedharan slammed the US official’s reference as neither relevant, necessary, nor contextual.

“The Ministry of External Affairs is aware of the remarks of the spokesperson of the US Department of State. In the Ministry’s view, the comments were neither relevant, necessary, nor contextual”, Muraleedharan was quoted by the Indian Express as saying.

Minister Frowns At US Comparism – The report credits the Indian official as saying that  India and the US enjoyed a comprehensive global strategic partnership adding:  “This partnership has been boosted by vibrant people-to-people contacts.

“The strength of our partnership is reflected in the excellent rapport between the leaders of the two countries and in the robust engagement across all levels,” Muraleedharan said.

According to him, there had been several meetings in the recent between the two countries aimed at improved mutual relationships, saying the recent statement belied such meetings.

According to the US Department of State, going by an entry accessed by The Eagle at its website, the  U.S and India share a strategic partnership founded on shared values including a commitment to democracy and upholding the rules-based international system.
