Unveiling: NNPP Consolidates Movement Towards Govt House

NNPP unveiling –  If what happened yesterday at Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital is anything to go by, then the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) is on a sure move into the Government House.

It held a twin event yesterday – the unveiling of Alhaja Shakirat Idris Arowolo, as running mate to Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, for next year’s general election, and secondly, the endorsement of the Ajadi candidacy by the Arewa Community in Ogun State; however, it seemed like a final rally on the eve of ballot casting.

All access routes to NNPP State Secretariat on FAJ House, Car Wash, Adatan Abeokuta was filled with hundreds of thousands of party members and supporters.

They included state and national officers and other supporters who were came in several vehicles branded in the NNPP colours and bearing the pictures of Ajadi and his deputy.

Also on hand were about four musicians who had been selected to keep the venue lively throughout the programme.

The crowd began to build from the early hours and increased with each passing minute till the late afternoon when the event fully began.

Flags and banners in NNPP colours and insignia took over the entire place, while amongst national officers present was Mr Bayo Olayoku, hard-working state chairman, Comrade Sunday Oginni Olaposu.

Performing the unveiling, Comrade Oginni, ushered Alhaja Arowolo to the race, expressing optimism on the NNPP taking over Ogun governmental affairs, come next year.

His speech was followed by Ambassador Ajadi, listing out the qualities that Alhaja Arowolo was bringing to bear in her capacity as deputy governor.

In the second event, the Arewa community which has played hosts to Ajadi before now, came out in their number to formally endorse his candidature, pledging their votes in the forthcoming election in the state.

They were led by Comrade Shafiu Musa, Ogun state coordinator of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.

According to Ayo Oroje, a party faithful who said his group arrived the venue as early as 9am, “In all, today’s event has showed the massive following of the NNPP in the state, with Comrade Oginni on the driving seat, Ambassador Ajadi as the mandate bearer, and Alhaja Arowolo as deputy.

The Eagle reports that since the entry of Ambassador Ajadi to the race, there has been increasing support and solidarity for his candidature.

Many of such supports cite, not only what he had been known for before now, but the vibrancy he had brought to the party, helping to make a frontline party in the 2023 election.
