Soludo’s Outburst Against Peter Obi Motivated By Envy – Labour Party

The Labour Party, LP, in the south-east has claimed that Governor Charles Soludo’s outburst against its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, was motivated by envy.

Chief Innocent Okeke, the national vice chairman of the party in the zone, made this claim in a statement on Wednesday.

The party, according to Okeke, was dismayed that Soludo, who was revered as a man of dignity and respect, could allow hatred and self-interest to cloud his judgment.

The party advised the governor to take a backseat so as to avoid falling short of the standards set by those who looked up to him as the new Igbo leader and slipping from his position of utmost respect and dignity.

According to him, “Hate is a wicked state of mind that when possessed can becloud one’s normal sense of reasoning. And this is exactly what played out in Prof. Soludo’s unreasonable outburst on Peter Obi’s Anambra government investment in 2014.

“Soludo through his hate for Peter Obi was quick to forget that the investment and the fiscal savings came together. The incontrovertible fact remains that Obi saved for the future of his state (Anambra) N75b naira, $50m in each of the three existing commercial banks of today, and 3.5b in the International Brewery.

“He handed over this investment to a new manager (governor), who has never denied knowledge of the investments.  Whether the manager (governor) took good care of the investment is another day’s discussion.

“And the former handed over to Soludo, now Soludo casting aspersions on Mr. Obi after 9 years he left office with verifiable savings and investment is uncalled for and condemnable by the entire Igbo race and Nigeria at large.

“The international brewery as we know it today employing 10,000 Anambrarians is not a bad investment and the depreciation of stocks is a Nigerian issue that have affected every company’s stock.

“Soludo should have employed the wisdom of silence even if he so much hated Mr. Obi, but for the sake of the Nigerian project stand with the mass of the people.

“He should watch it going forward or he creates serious embarrassment for himself and governance as he too needs the support of the people to achieve.

“We still love Soludo and wish him the best in office as Anambra State governor but he must retrace his steps. Nigerians are wiser today than before, it is more reasonable to be on the side of the people to get things done.”

Recall that Soludo had previously asserted that Obi’s investment in the Anambra state government was almost worthless.

The Labour Party‘s presidential candidate cannot prevail in the 2023 general election, according to the Anambra state.

In a piece on Monday, 14th November 2022, by Soludo titled “History Beckons and I Will Not Be Silent (Part 1).”

He stated, “Let’s be clear: Peter Obi knows that he can’t and won’t win. He knows the game he is playing, and we know too; and he knows that we know,” the article reads in part.

“The game he is playing is the main reason he didn’t return to APGA. The brutal truth (and some will say, God forbid) is that there are two persons/parties seriously contesting for president: the rest is exciting drama!

“That many Americans may not like the fact that Joe Biden (79 years) and Donald Trump (76 years) are two frontrunners for president in their parties does not remove the fact that if both of them emerge as candidates, definitely one of them will be president in 2024.

“As my brother, I wish him well and even pray for him. I told him during his courtesy call that my prayer is that himself or Prof Umeadi of APGA would win, why not?

“That is from my heart, but I also told him that my head and facts on the ground led me to know that it’s probability is next to zero (what I cannot say before you, I won’t say behind you).

“So I already told him my opinion. Indeed, there is no credible pathway for him near the first two positions, and if care is not taken, he won’t even near the third position.”

Meanwhile, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi in viral video responded to the comment made by Governor Charles Soludo of the state of Anambra by asserting that as a former governor of the state, he had done his fair share.

According to him, “He (Soludo) remains my brother, we are very close. I remain prayerful for him. For other things which I didn’t succeed, God has given him opportunity to do it and succeed.

“So, if there is anything pending, governance doesn’t finish, people are still in government in America, so you stop where you will stop, other people will continue from there. I have done my little own as a trader, now the professor is there he will do his own as a professor, the schools I didn’t roof he will roof them, that’s how government goes.”
