You Won’t Believe What Nigerian Soldiers Were Sighted Doing At Local Council Office

Nigerian soldiers – If a group of fully dressed Nigerian soldiers were to storm your premises right away, what would first cross your mind?

Certainly, many would find a smart way of retreating or ourtightly take to their heels for fear of being manhandled.

Workers at the Nsit Ibom Council Secretariat and its environs in Akwa Ibom, had such a rare visit earlier today and they are still talking about it.

The soldiers that thronged their premises were men of the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, but their mission was a different one: it was to clean up the premises of the local council.

The gesture which was part of the formation’s Exercise Still Water II programme, had commenced in the state on October 2, and would last till December 22, its essence being to enhance synergy and inter-agency  cooperation.

Cleaning up was not the only thing that the men of the 2 brigade did, but they also conducted sensitisation exercise on road safety and security to motorists operating at the Itam long-distance park in Uyo.

“Today, we came to Itam park to carry out what we call a seeming exercise to educate motorists and other road users, park officials, and everyone around the park on what we have been doing so far.

“Lectures were delivered on how to use the roads and the negative effects of drug abuse and also security general”, said the Commander, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen Abubakar Wase.

Incidentally, Wase was not physically present, but was represented by the Assistant Chief of Staff in charge of Administration and Logistics in the brigade, Lt.-Col. Ezekiel Wakili.

Motorists who turned for the programme were given general road safety tips, and advised to avoid drug abuse, amongst others.

Similarly, drivers, and all other road users were advised to adhere to road safety rules and regulations.

“If they can imbibe these lectures we have given them, I believe the society will be a free place for every one of us to live in,” he said.
