Touching Tribute For Female Redeemed Preacher, Murdered In Cold Bold

Remember the touching story of the female pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and mother of seven, Mrs. Eunice Elisha?

The woman, an obvious lover of the gospel was  was on a Saturday morning preaching round around the Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory, when the unthinkable happened.

Unknown assailants hacked her down, leaving beside her, the Bible and megaphone she had taken along in their exercise.

Her birthday was just a couple of weeks away, but her attacker  stabbed her in the stomach and left a cut in her neck.

The 42-year-old woman was a deaconess at the Divine Touch Parish of the RCCG, Old NEPA Road, Phase 4, Kubwa.

Of course the sad news left her husband,   Mr. Olawale Elisha, also a pastor at the RCCG, distraught.  “My wife always went out early in the morning for ‘Morning Cry’ (evangelism). There was a particular day she went out and she told me that there was a mosque at the back where they commented about what she said. So I just cautioned her.

“This morning (Saturday), she went out around 5 am and I was still in bed because we had a vigil which she participated in for a short while because of the ‘Morning Cry’ she planned to undertake. Two of my boys are footballers, thus, they went to the football pitch to play. And when they came back, they told me that they heard some footballers saying that some hoodlums had butchered a woman who was preaching early this morning.”

Following the report of his children, he decided to check if his wife was safe.

“When I heard this, wearing only a pair of shorts, we walked towards the area my son had said the incident occurred; we didn’t see anybody but we saw blood on the ground. I asked a policeman around and he said it was true but that they had taken the body to Phase 4 Police Station”, the husband had narrated.

Five years on, a facebook user, Zito Mgbaramuko  has re-shared a touching tribute for the late Deaconess as shared by another user, Ominuta Osas.

Titled “Tribute To The Woman With The Megaphone”, the touching tribute reads:

Remember the woman with the megaphone? Yes. This marks four years since she was brutally murdered for preaching the Gospel. The ripple effect is seen by all as we speak. No one sheds an innocent blood and goes scot free.

Rest on Eunice Elisha. They Killed your body….

But they could not kill your soul!

They snuffed out your life in the morning.

With the megaphone and the bible by your side.

They shouted with glee as your blood poured out

And  your fragile body come  falling down.

Little did they know that the angels surrounded the place

To carry the conqueror home.

They killed the body

The fragile body.

They silenced the voice

  that showed them the way

But … They could not kill the soul

Your message of love is not forgotten

Your death is not in vain

Your voice is still heard in the morning

Over a thousand miles away.

Though they laughed and they jeered as they struck you

With the megaphone and bible in your hand

Though they killed you like a ram for a sacrifice.

As you kept the name of Jesus in your mouth.

Little did they know that the saviour was standing with joy

To welcome the pilgrim home.

They killed the body

The fragile body.
