The Ogba area of Lagos is on the boil following what eye witnesses have described as a reprisal attack from commercial bike riders protesting police killing of two of them.

Eye witnesses told The Eagle that the killing happened in Agege, and this saw the okada riders believed to be majorly from the northern part of the country, mobilizing for reprisal.

Many people who were on the Berger-Ogba route at about 9am this morning was caught in the resultant commotion forcing vehicles and pedestrians on forced detour.

This was worsened by gun shot sounds from the axis of the nearby Area G Command of the Nigeria Police.

Thick smoke from cannisters rose in the air and many people could be seen in a desperate bid to escape.

In fact, a number of commercial tricycles and other private cars bumped into each other trying to escape the confusion.

Most shops and other business premises within the area were seen promptly closing up, while pedestrians in all directions were running to safety.

At the Ogba branch of Zenith Bank, customers who had been kept waiting in the outside tent were quickly herded into the bank’s compound the moment the confusion began, the security men locking them in for temporary safety.

Also, at the nearby Ecobank, security men had locked up the gates preventing people from coming in or leaving.
