A Nigerian man in China has landed himself in bigger trouble after he battered a lady nurse trying to prevent him from escaping quarantine.
47 year old Okonkwonwoye Chika Patrick had tested positive to the corona virus infection and was in quarantine as measures to stop further spread of the disease, reports say.
He had arrived Guangzhou city of southern China on March 20, and had been receiving treatment at the Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital since March 23.
His bid to leave quarantine had been stopped by the nurse identified as Wang, leading to frayed nerves, and resulting in the man beating up the nurse.
The report obtained by The Eagle indicates that the man refused to take treatment when the nurse approached and instead made a bid to escapte, and that was when the beating resulted.
Unfortunately for him, he was rearrested.
Some have expressed fear that Okonkwonwoye may get the mistreatment of his life, having first tried to escape quarantine and next, beating up a health official on duty.
The Chinese authorities are still trying to recover from the impact of the virus, which had claimed about 3,322 lives out of the 81, 000 cases recorded.
As at yesterday, the country reported 31 new confirmed cases, including two locally transmitted infections. Four people died, all of them in Wuhan, the city where the virus first began.
