Liverpool football club are on the brink of claiming their first English Premier League(EPL) title in 30 years with 2-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds broke the deadlock in the 14th minute following a corner through their most expensive player, Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield.
The home side made it 2-0 in the 25th minute through Roberto Firmino but it was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee(VAR) as it was clearly shown that the United goal keeper, David De Gea was fouled in the air by Van Dijk.
The visitor nearly equalised in the 30th minute as Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s inviting cross picked up a Andreas Pereira inside the penalty box, but the Brazilian playmaker failed to put the ball in the back of the net.
In the second half, Geoginio Wijnaldum made it 2-0 with a fantastic finish after a teammate played him through but was canceled by the VAR. Few minute later, the visitor wasted a glorious chance as Anthony Martial was played through inside the penalty area after a good one-two pass from Pereira but the Frenchman played the ball too high at the bottom right corner to make it 1-1.
The Reds put the game to bed in the 93th minute as goal keeper Alisson Becker played Mohammed Salah through on a counter, and the Egyptian made no mistake in putting the ball at the back of the net.
However, a win against Wolves on Thursday will put them on the brink of claiming their first ever EPL title in 30 years in the Premier League.
