2023: Why I’m Better Than My Rivals – Tinubu

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a presidential candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claims he will outperform his opponent in the general election of 2023 in terms of vision, qualifications, experience, and exposure.

On Thursday, Tinubu met with a few clergy members from the Christian faith under the sponsorship of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria.

He argued before the clergy that he was in a better position to develop the prospects of the country than any of his rivals.

According to Tinubu, his decision to select a Muslim as his running partner was motivated by a great desire to serve rather than by his beliefs or other considerations.

Shedding light on his plans, Tinubu said, “How will Nigeria develop? How do we banish hunger? How do we improve the insecurity and how do we eliminate killing one another, and shedding blood on innocent citizens? That is what we must take to the office and not our religion.

“My intention is clear. Not in religiosity. My intention is to develop this country, to bring prosperity to our country and I have better qualifications, better track record, better exposure, better vision than any of my mates.”

On the choice of his running mate, Tinubu said; “When the shortlisted names came, I looked at the characters on the list, their backgrounds and everything and here is somebody (Kashim Shettima) who is so brilliant, so committed, who, during the crisis in Borno protected Christians.”

“Let us establish intellectual inclusivity to build an understanding on which route Nigeria” was his final exhortation to Nigerians to reject religious feelings.

In response, Archbishop John Praise, Chairman of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria, said: “We are not committed to endorsing anybody, but you should examine your conscience and base your decision on what you have heard and the justifications Tinubu has provided for his positions.”

Senator Grace Bent of Adamawa State, a party chieftain, expressed hope that Tinubu’s victory will bring about a new era for the nation’s Christian community.
